The Detroit Lions cruised to a decisive 35-6 victory over the New York Jets in Week 3 of the 2026 season, solidifying their position as a contender in the league. With this win, the Lions showcase their dominance at home, while the Jets continue to search for answers on both sides of the ball. Jared Goff led the charge for Detroit, throwing for two touchdowns and effectively managing the game. Jahmyr Gibbs was a standout performer, not only contributing 127 receiving yards but also adding 43 rushing yards, proving to be a dual threat that the Jets struggled to contain. J.J. McCarthy of the Jets put up impressive passing numbers with 293 yards, but his efforts were overshadowed by the Lions' offensive efficiency. Detroit's defense played a pivotal role in the outcome, with Alim McNeill wreaking havoc on the Jets' offensive line, recording three sacks. The Lions' defense stifled New York's scoring opportunities, while Malcolm Rodriguez anchored the unit with three total tackles. The turning point came midway through the second quarter when Goff connected with Gibbs for a touchdown, shifting the momentum firmly in Detroit's favor and leaving the Jets unable to recover.
