In a thrilling Week 7 clash, the New York Giants topped the Houston Texans 35-28, solidifying their place in the playoff race. Both teams fought hard, but the Giants' offense showcased remarkable efficiency, ultimately proving too much for the Texans to overcome. J.J. McCarthy led the charge for New York, throwing for 310 yards and three touchdowns, effectively spreading the ball and keeping the Texans' defense on its heels. Calvin Austin was his favorite target, racking up 111 receiving yards and making key plays when it mattered most. Meanwhile, Houston's James Cook III contributed significantly with 85 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Giants' aerial attack. Defensively, the Giants made crucial plays, with D.J. Reader notching 1.5 sacks to disrupt Houston's offensive rhythm. The game turned in the Giants' favor late in the second quarter when McCarthy connected with Austin for a touchdown that shifted momentum decisively. Although the Texans fought back valiantly, they couldn't recover from that pivotal moment, allowing New York to hold off their late-game surge.
