In a tightly contested matchup, Columbia South Carolina holds off Durham Duke with a final score of 22-16, improving their record in the 2026 season. The victory was crucial for Columbia, as they aimed to establish themselves as a playoff contender early in the season. Jared Goff put on a strong performance for Durham Duke, throwing for an impressive 303 passing yards, while Sam LaPorta led all receivers with 104 receiving yards. However, it was Cam Newton's efficiency, contributing one touchdown pass, and Chuba Hubbard's dominant rushing display with 118 yards that propelled Columbia to victory. Defensively, both teams made impactful plays, but the standout moment came from Devin Lloyd, who recorded a key sack that shifted momentum in favor of Columbia. The defense of Columbia South Carolina held firm in the closing moments, stifling Durham's attempts to drive down the field for a game-winning score. Jack Campbell's ten tackles for Durham were commendable, but it was not enough to secure the win as Columbia's defense stepped up when it mattered most.
