In a commanding performance to kick off the 2027 season, the Tennessee Titans defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-16. With playoff aspirations on the line, the Titans showcased their offensive firepower, setting the tone for what could be a promising campaign. Quarterback Justin Fields was the star of the show, throwing for 343 yards and four touchdowns, effectively distributing the ball and keeping the Jaguars' defense on their heels. Wide receiver Chimere Dike was his primary target, racking up an impressive 164 receiving yards, while Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars made a strong effort on the ground, rushing for 117 yards but ultimately couldn’t keep pace with the Titans' scoring. Defensively, the Titans were formidable, led by Amani Hooker with five total tackles and John Franklin-Myers, who recorded 1.5 sacks, applying pressure throughout the game. The turning point came in the second quarter when a critical interception by Caleb Ransaw of the Jaguars was nullified by a subsequent touchdown drive from the Titans, allowing them to seize control and maintain their lead.
