In a decisive opener for the 2027 season, the Miami Dolphins comfortably topped the Washington Commanders with a final score of 28-7. The Dolphins showcased their offensive prowess, establishing early dominance and setting the tone for the game. With this victory, Miami starts the season strong, while Washington faces significant questions moving forward. Malik Willis was the standout for Miami, throwing for 166 yards and three touchdowns, displaying both precision and poise throughout the contest. He connected frequently with Will Kacmarek, who amassed an impressive 147 receiving yards, proving to be a constant threat downfield. Additionally, De'Von Achane contributed on the ground with 67 rushing yards, helping to keep the chains moving and the defense on its heels. Defensively, the Dolphins were effective in pressuring the Commanders, with Jermaine Johnson II recording a sack and Chris Johnson securing an interception. The turning point came midway through the second quarter when Johnson's pick set up another touchdown, extending Miami's lead to 21-0 and effectively putting the game out of reach for Washington. Despite a solid effort from Nick Cross, who led the Commanders with three total tackles, they struggled to contain Miami's explosive offense.
