In a commanding performance, the Washington Commanders defeated the San Francisco 49ers 42-14 in Week 2 of the 2027 season. This decisive victory showcased the Commanders' dominance as they aimed to build momentum early in the year, while the 49ers struggled to find their rhythm on both sides of the ball. Jayden Daniels was the standout performer for Washington, throwing for 348 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to stretch the field and connect with his receivers. Terry McLaurin was his favorite target, racking up 162 receiving yards and proving to be a consistent threat throughout the game. On the ground, while the 49ers' Christian McCaffrey had a strong outing with 140 rushing yards, it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the explosive Washington offense. Defensively, the Commanders capitalized on key moments, with Mike Sainristil snagging an interception that shifted the momentum in their favor. Although the 49ers' Nick Bosa made a strong impact with three sacks, it was Washington's ability to disrupt San Francisco's offensive flow that sealed the game. The turning point came in the second quarter when the Commanders scored two quick touchdowns, effectively putting the game out of reach for the 49ers.
