In a commanding performance, the Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams 48-20 in the Wildcard Round of the 2026 season. With both teams vying for a spot in the next round of the playoffs, the Lions showcased their dominance throughout the match. Jahmyr Gibbs was the standout star for Detroit, racking up an incredible 309 rushing yards, which propelled the Lions’ offense and kept the Rams' defense on its heels. Quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Rams threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to match the Lions’ explosive ground game. Meanwhile, Puka Nacua shined in the receiving department for Los Angeles, amassing 167 yards, but the Rams were unable to capitalize on his efforts. The game turned decisively in favor of Detroit thanks to their defensive efforts, highlighted by two crucial interceptions from Kerby Joseph. While the Rams’ Kenny Moore II led the team in tackles with six, it was the Lions' ability to create turnovers that shifted momentum and allowed them to build an insurmountable lead. The Lions’ defense not only contained Los Angeles but also turned critical plays into scoring opportunities, sealing their victory and advancing them deeper into the playoffs.
