The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opened the 2026 season with a solid 28-16 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive resilience. This Week 1 matchup was crucial for both teams as they sought to establish early momentum in the new season. The Buccaneers’ win sets a positive tone as they look to build on their performance. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers' offense with precision, throwing for two touchdowns and keeping the chains moving effectively. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow of the Bengals put up impressive numbers with 278 passing yards but struggled to convert those into points against a tenacious Tampa defense. Chase Brown contributed with 73 rushing yards, while Tee Higgins stood out in the receiving game, amassing 122 yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Buccaneers. Defensively, Tampa Bay made key plays that shifted the momentum in their favor. A'Shawn Robinson registered a sack, putting pressure on Burrow, while Keionte Scott’s interception proved pivotal in limiting Cincinnati's scoring opportunities. The turning point came in the second half when the Buccaneers forced a turnover at a critical moment, allowing them to extend their lead and ultimately secure the win.
