In a tightly contested Week 6 matchup, the San Francisco 49ers narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 23-16, solidifying their position in the playoff race. With both teams vying for crucial conference standings, this victory proved vital for San Francisco's postseason aspirations. Brock Purdy was the standout performer for the 49ers, throwing for 273 yards and three touchdown passes, showcasing his skill and poise under pressure. Mike Evans also made a significant impact, leading the receiving corps with 100 yards, providing Purdy with a reliable target throughout the game. Meanwhile, Jacory Croskey-Merritt kept the Commanders competitive with a strong rushing performance, racking up 94 yards on the ground. Defensively, the 49ers maintained pressure, but the Commanders' Frankie Luvu stood out with three sacks, making it difficult for Purdy to find a rhythm at times. However, the turning point came late in the fourth quarter when San Francisco's defense intercepted a crucial pass, allowing them to seal the victory. Despite the loss, the Commanders' Sonny Styles led the defense with eight tackles, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 49ers' offensive firepower.
