In a tightly contested battle, the Houston Texans held off the Tennessee Titans with a final score of 24-17 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. This victory keeps the Texans in the playoff hunt, while the Titans look to rebound from a tough loss as they fight for postseason positioning. On the offensive side, David Montgomery was a standout for the Texans, rushing for 116 yards and consistently moving the chains. Titans quarterback Cam Ward had a solid performance, throwing for 153 yards and two touchdown passes, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Carnell Tate was Ward's favorite target, racking up 85 receiving yards and providing crucial plays throughout the game. Defensively, Byron Murphy II made a significant impact for Houston, recording 1.5 sacks that disrupted the Titans' offensive rhythm. The turning point came midway through the fourth quarter when Murphy's pressure led to a critical turnover on downs, allowing the Texans to maintain their lead and secure the victory. With strong performances on both sides of the ball, Houston's defense proved vital in sealing the win.
