The Detroit Lions held off the New York Jets with a final score of 24-17 in their Week 3 matchup, keeping their playoff aspirations alive in the early 2026 season. Both teams battled hard, but the Lions managed to secure the victory, showcasing their resilience on home turf. Jared Goff contributed effectively for the Lions, throwing for one touchdown, while Amon-Ra St. Brown had a standout performance, racking up 155 receiving yards. On the other side, Baker Mayfield led the Jets with an impressive 296 passing yards, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lions' balanced attack. Breece Hall also made his mark with 87 rushing yards, but his efforts fell short in the end. Defensively, Minkah Fitzpatrick was a force for the Lions, leading with 10 total tackles, which highlighted Detroit's ability to stifle the Jets' offensive momentum. The game shifted in the second half when the Lions' defense tightened, forcing critical stops that allowed Goff and the offense to maintain their lead. Ultimately, a combination of timely tackles and strategic plays sealed the victory for Detroit.
