In a hard-fought battle, the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 in Week 16 of the 2026 season. With playoff positioning on the line, both teams brought their best, but it was the Chiefs who ultimately emerged victorious at home. Patrick Mahomes led the charge for Kansas City, throwing for 290 yards, while Kenneth Walker added a solid 75 rushing yards to keep the 49ers' defense on their toes. On the other side, Brock Purdy managed one touchdown pass but found himself in a tough spot as he faced a relentless Chiefs defense. Ricky Pearsall stood out for San Francisco with 93 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to shift the momentum in the 49ers' favor. Defensively, the Chiefs made key plays at crucial moments, highlighted by L'Jarius Sneed’s interception that halted a potential scoring drive by San Francisco. Mansoor Delane’s nine total tackles showcased his impact, helping to stifle the 49ers' offensive efforts. Ultimately, the turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Kansas City forced a turnover, allowing them to maintain control and seal the win.
