In a tightly contested matchup, the New York Jets narrowly defeated the Cleveland Browns 17-14 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. Both teams were vying for a critical win to bolster their playoff aspirations, but it was the Jets who emerged victorious in this thrilling encounter. Deshaun Watson led the charge for the Browns, throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers. Jerry Jeudy was Watson's favorite target, racking up 78 receiving yards, while Breece Hall paced the Jets on the ground with 74 rushing yards. Despite the strong offensive performance from Cleveland, it was not enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Jets made key plays that turned the tide of the game. VJ Payne dominated with nine total tackles, helping to stifle the Browns' running game, while Brandon Stephens sealed the victory with a crucial interception. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Jets' defense forced a turnover, allowing them to maintain their slim lead and ultimately hold off Cleveland for the win.
