In a tightly contested season opener, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the Cincinnati Bengals 19-11, kicking off the 2026 campaign with a hard-fought victory. This win sets the tone for the Buccaneers as they aim to build on last season's momentum while the Bengals look to rebound quickly from this early setback. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers' offense with a strong performance, throwing for 299 yards and connecting with Emeka Egbuka for 107 of those yards. Bucky Irving added a solid ground game with 62 rushing yards, helping to keep the chains moving and control the clock. These offensive efforts were crucial in securing the win for Tampa Bay. Defensively, the Buccaneers were spearheaded by Yaya Diaby, who recorded two sacks that disrupted the Bengals' passing game and provided critical momentum shifts. Although Dax Hill of the Bengals made a significant impact with 12 tackles, Cincinnati struggled to find their rhythm against a relentless Tampa Bay defense. The turning point came in the second half when Diaby's second sack led to a critical turnover, allowing the Buccaneers to extend their lead and ultimately seal the victory.
