In a closely contested matchup, the New York Giants narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 11-8 in Week 2 of the 2027 season. Both teams were looking to establish momentum early in the season, but it was the Giants who emerged victorious in this defensive showdown. Bo Nix led the Commanders' offense, throwing for 174 yards and one touchdown, while Amon-Ra St. Brown proved to be a reliable target with 91 receiving yards. On the ground, Ashton Jeanty was the standout for the Giants, racking up 82 rushing yards to help keep the chains moving and control the tempo of the game. Defensively, the Giants made a significant impact, highlighted by Emmanuel McNeil-Warren's two interceptions that shifted the momentum in favor of New York. Tyrel Dodson's five tackles also played a critical role in limiting the Commanders' offensive opportunities. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when McNeil-Warren's second pick thwarted a promising Washington drive, sealing the victory for the Giants.
