The Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the New York Jets 17-16 in a tightly contested Week 3 matchup of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to solidify their standing early in the season, but it was the Lions who emerged victorious in a game that showcased their resilience and tactical execution. Quarterback Matthew Stafford led the charge for Detroit, throwing for 242 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Alec Pierce was a standout target, racking up 113 receiving yards. On the ground, David Montgomery of the Jets was impressive, carrying the ball for 121 yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win for New York. Defensively, Will Anderson Jr. was instrumental for the Lions, recording two sacks and an interception, which proved crucial in shifting the momentum of the game. The turning point came in the second half when Anderson's pick set up a vital touchdown, allowing Detroit to maintain their slim lead and ultimately secure the victory.
