In a commanding performance, the Washington Commanders defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. This victory not only boosts the Commanders' confidence but also solidifies their position as a contender in the playoff race, leaving the 49ers searching for answers after a disappointing outing. Washington's offense was led by quarterback Cam Ward, who threw for 264 yards and efficiently directed the attack. Bijan Robinson contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 78 rushing yards, while Josh Downs emerged as a top target, posting 106 receiving yards. The dynamic play from these offensive stars proved too much for the 49ers' defense to handle. Defensively, the Commanders dominated, with Cashius Howell making an impact with 1.5 sacks and Kyle Hamilton securing a crucial interception. The turning point came in the second quarter when Hamilton's interception set up a quick touchdown drive, shifting momentum firmly in Washington's favor. The 49ers struggled to recover from that moment, unable to answer back against a tenacious Commanders defense.
