In an impressive season opener, the Philadelphia Eagles topped the Washington Commanders 38-21, showcasing their offensive firepower and solidifying their status as a team to watch in the 2026 season. With both teams eager to make an early statement, the Eagles emerged victorious, displaying a potent blend of passing and rushing attacks. Josh Allen led the charge for Philadelphia with a strong performance, throwing for 267 yards and contributing to the offensive rhythm. However, it was James Cook III who stole the show on the ground, racking up an impressive 172 rushing yards and finding the end zone, while Cam Ward of the Commanders threw for two touchdowns to keep his team competitive. Juwan Johnson stood out in the receiving game for Washington, notching 79 yards. On the defensive side, the Eagles' Deommodore Lenoir made a significant impact with two interceptions, turning the tide in crucial moments of the game. Although the Commanders' Ronnie Hickman recorded five total tackles and Kobie Turner added a sack, it was Philadelphia's defense that proved more disruptive, particularly during a key stretch in the second half when they forced turnovers that helped secure the victory. This game clearly set the tone for both teams as they look to build momentum moving forward.
