The Washington Commanders secured a thrilling 51-36 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 of the 2026 season, solidifying their position as contenders in the league. This matchup featured two high-powered offenses, but it was Washington that ultimately outlasted the Niners in a game that showcased explosive plays and strategic execution. Ashton Jeanty was the standout for the Commanders, rushing for an impressive 198 yards, while Brock Purdy led the charge for San Francisco with a remarkable 333 passing yards and four touchdown passes. Mike Evans also made his mark, racking up 238 receiving yards, showcasing the 49ers' aerial attack. Despite Purdy's strong performance, Washington's offensive balance proved too much for San Francisco to handle. Defensively, the Commanders made crucial plays that shifted momentum in their favor. Odafe Oweh dominated with two sacks, putting pressure on Purdy throughout the game, while Mansoor Delane came up big with two interceptions that halted critical drives. The turning point came in the second half when Washington's defense intercepted a pass, leading to a quick touchdown that widened the gap and ultimately sealed the game for the Commanders.
