In a thrilling Week 5 matchup, the Houston Texans narrowly defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 35-31, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the 2027 season. Both teams came into the game looking to solidify their standings, but it was the Texans who emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle. C.J. Stroud led the Texans' offensive charge with 242 passing yards, while Woody Marks dominated on the ground, racking up an impressive 172 rushing yards. Dalton Schultz was the go-to target for Stroud, finishing the game with 89 receiving yards and contributing to the Texans' potent offensive performance. Joe Burrow found the end zone twice through the air for the Bengals, but it wasn't enough to clinch the win. Defensively, the Texans made key plays that influenced the outcome, including a pivotal sack from Will Anderson Jr. that disrupted Burrow's rhythm in the second half. Although Bryan Cook of the Bengals recorded four tackles, it was the Texans' ability to contain the Bengals' explosive plays that proved crucial. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Houston's defense stifled a Cincinnati drive, allowing the Texans to hold onto their lead and secure the victory.
