In a commanding performance, the Detroit Lions topped the San Francisco 49ers 42-21 in Week 8 of the 2027 season. This victory solidifies the Lions' position as serious contenders, showcasing their offensive prowess and strategic execution. Leading the charge for Detroit was quarterback Quan Cohen, who put together a remarkable game with 374 passing yards and four touchdowns. Additionally, Cohen shined on the ground, racking up 129 rushing yards, while his favorite target, Jeff Caldwell, exploded for an impressive 312 receiving yards, making for a dynamic offensive duo that consistently kept the 49ers' defense on its heels. Defensively, the Lions were able to contain the 49ers' offense, but it was their own offensive explosion that ultimately dictated the game's outcome. The turning point came in the second quarter when Cohen connected with Caldwell for a 75-yard touchdown, shifting momentum firmly in Detroit's favor. Despite Mykel Williams' three sacks for San Francisco, the Lions' offensive line held strong, allowing Cohen to execute a game plan that proved too much for the 49ers to overcome.
