In a decisive Week 18 matchup, the Houston Texans topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a commanding final score of 38-14. This victory solidified Houston's position as they look ahead to the playoffs, while the Buccaneers faced a disappointing end to their season. Joe Flacco led the Texans' offensive charge, throwing for two touchdowns and effectively managing the game. David Montgomery was a standout on the ground, rushing for 119 yards, while Tyler Harrell showcased his receiving prowess with 135 yards, providing Flacco with a reliable target. Despite the loss, Baker Mayfield put up impressive numbers with 304 passing yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome Houston's offensive onslaught. Defensively, the Texans made key plays that shifted momentum, highlighted by Derek Stingley Jr.'s interception, which halted a promising Buccaneers drive. The turning point came in the second quarter when Houston's defense stifled Tampa Bay, leading to a short field that resulted in a touchdown, allowing the Texans to build a comfortable lead. With their defense stepping up at critical moments, the Texans were able to maintain control and secure the win.
