In a pivotal Week 3 matchup of the 2026 season, the Detroit Lions secured a 20-7 victory over the New York Jets, solidifying their status as a contender in the league. The game showcased a strong performance from both teams, but the Lions ultimately pulled away with key contributions on both sides of the ball. Tyler Shough led the Lions with 186 passing yards, demonstrating poise and accuracy as he orchestrated the offense. Kayshon Boutte was a standout receiver, racking up 77 yards and proving to be a reliable target in crucial moments. Despite the Jets' Joe Milton throwing one touchdown, it was the Lions' balanced attack that kept the Jets on their heels. Defensively, the Lions capitalized on their opportunities, with Jeffery Simmons snagging an interception that shifted momentum in their favor. Although the Jets' Demario Davis had a solid outing with four tackles and two sacks, it was the Lions' ability to stifle the Jets' offense that defined the game. The turning point came in the second half when Simmons' interception led to a pivotal touchdown, allowing Detroit to maintain control and ultimately secure the win.
