In a high-scoring affair, the New Orleans Saints topped the Houston Texans 45-28 in Week 2 of the 2027 season, solidifying their early dominance in the league. The Saints showcased their offensive prowess, while the Texans struggled to keep pace, making this matchup a crucial contest for both teams' momentum moving forward. Trevor Lawrence was the star of the night, throwing for an impressive 461 yards and five touchdowns, leading the Saints' explosive attack. His connection with the receiving corps was on full display, as they consistently found ways to exploit the Texans' secondary. Meanwhile, Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a standout performance for Houston, racking up 281 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to shift the tide in favor of the Texans. On the defensive side, Thomas Harper led the Saints with four total tackles, providing key stops throughout the game. The turning point came late in the second quarter when T.J. Edwards intercepted a pass, halting a promising Texans drive and allowing New Orleans to extend their lead. Despite a strong effort from Travon Walker, who recorded 2.5 sacks for Houston, the Saints' defense made the critical plays when it mattered most, sealing the victory.
