In a decisive Week 14 matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the Houston Texans with a final score of 25-10, solidifying their playoff aspirations. The Commanders' strong performance was crucial as they look to secure their position in the postseason with only a few games left in the regular season. J.J. McCarthy led the way for Washington, throwing for 252 yards and a touchdown, displaying both poise and precision throughout the game. On the receiving end, Jaxon Smith-Njigba put forth a strong performance for the Texans, racking up 123 receiving yards, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to counter the Commanders' offensive output. Rico Dowdle of Houston managed a modest 49 rushing yards but struggled to find consistent traction against the Commanders' defense. Defensively, Chris Jones was a standout for Washington, recording five tackles and an impressive five sacks, disrupting the Texans' offensive rhythm and putting constant pressure on their quarterback. The game’s turning point came late in the second quarter when Jones' relentless pass rush led to a crucial interception by Jaishawn Barham, shifting the momentum firmly in favor of the Commanders. With this victory, Washington continues to build momentum as they eye a playoff run.
