The San Francisco 49ers secured a commanding 45-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 of the 2027 season. With this win, San Francisco establishes itself as a serious contender early in the campaign, while Arizona looks to regroup and find answers moving forward. Brock Purdy led the charge for the 49ers, throwing for three touchdowns and displaying efficiency in the passing game. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold put up impressive numbers for the Cardinals, racking up 319 passing yards, but it was Jeremiah Smith's standout performance with 154 receiving yards that kept Arizona competitive throughout the game. Defensively, the 49ers pressured Darnold consistently, which played a crucial role in their victory. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Purdy connected on a touchdown pass to extend the lead, putting Arizona in a position where they had to chase the game. Though Denzel Burke and Zaven Collins made notable defensive contributions for the Cardinals, it wasn't enough to halt San Francisco's offensive momentum.
