In a decisive Week 2 matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the Las Vegas Raiders with a final score of 35-19, improving their record early in the 2027 season. This victory comes as the Commanders look to establish themselves as serious contenders in the league, while the Raiders aim to bounce back from a tough loss. Jayden Daniels led the way for Washington with an impressive performance, throwing for two touchdowns and demonstrating poise in the pocket. Antonio Williams continued to be a key target, racking up 100 receiving yards, while Jacory Croskey-Merritt added balance to the offense with a solid 64 rushing yards. The Raiders' Fernando Mendoza also had a notable showing, accumulating 250 passing yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Commanders' explosive offense. On the defensive side, the Commanders were relentless, with Colin Simmons contributing 1.5 sacks to apply pressure on Mendoza throughout the game. Trey Amos anchored the defense with a team-high nine tackles, playing a crucial role in stifling the Raiders' offensive efforts. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Washington scored back-to-back touchdowns, creating a lead that the Raiders could never recover from.
