In a thrilling start to the 2027 season, the Philadelphia Eagles narrowly defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 24-20. Both teams were looking to establish momentum early in the year, but it was the Eagles who ultimately came out on top in this tightly contested matchup. Jalen Hurts led the Eagles' offense with a stellar performance, throwing for two touchdowns and helping his team secure crucial points. Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield of the Buccaneers racked up 231 passing yards, showcasing his ability to move the ball effectively. On the ground, Bucky Irving contributed a solid 69 rushing yards, but it was Tetairoa McMillan who shone in the receiving game, finishing with an impressive 100 yards. Defensively, the Eagles made their mark, with Cooper DeJean leading the way with five total tackles. However, it was Nolan Smith Jr. who turned the tide for Philadelphia, recording three sacks that pressured Mayfield and disrupted Tampa Bay's rhythm. The Eagles' defense ultimately created the game's pivotal moments, stifling the Buccaneers' final drive and sealing the victory.
