The Dallas Cowboys opened their 2027 season with a solid 23-13 victory over the Washington Commanders, setting the tone for what they hope will be a successful campaign. With both teams looking to establish their identities early, the Cowboys showcased their offensive prowess while the Commanders aimed to bounce back after a tough loss. Julian Sayin led the Cowboys' offense with a strong performance, throwing for 227 yards and a touchdown, effectively managing the game and keeping his team in control. Chuba Hubbard contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 63 rushing yards to complement the passing attack. Despite the loss, Jaylin Lane of the Commanders stood out with 82 receiving yards, providing a bright spot for Washington’s offense. Defensively, the Cowboys made their presence felt, with Kenny Clark recording a pivotal sack that disrupted the Commanders' offensive rhythm. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Clark's pressure led to a critical turnover, allowing Dallas to extend their lead heading into halftime. The Commanders struggled to recover from that momentum shift, falling short in their comeback efforts as the Cowboys held firm in the second half.
