In a decisive Week 6 matchup, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Washington Commanders 28-14, solidifying their position in the playoff race. The victory was crucial for both teams, as they jockey for playoff positioning in a competitive NFC landscape. Brock Purdy led the charge for San Francisco, throwing for 249 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers downfield. De'Zhaun Stribling was a key target, amassing 76 receiving yards and proving to be a reliable option for Purdy. On the ground, Jayden Daniels put forth a valiant effort for Washington with 57 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the 49ers’ offensive output. Defensively, the 49ers were anchored by Minkah Fitzpatrick, who recorded four total tackles, while Upton Stout made a critical interception to halt a Commanders drive. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Purdy connected with Stribling for a touchdown, extending the 49ers’ lead to two scores. Despite a late push from Washington, San Francisco’s defense held firm, securing the win and sending a message to the rest of the league.
