In a thrilling season opener, the Denver Broncos narrowly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 25-24, kicking off the 2026 season with a nail-biting finish. Both teams entered this matchup with high expectations, but it was the Broncos who emerged victorious in this tightly contested battle. Bo Nix led the charge for Denver, showcasing his passing prowess with an impressive 333 yards and three touchdown passes. Tee Higgins was his favorite target, racking up 140 receiving yards and consistently finding ways to create separation from the Chiefs' defense. Meanwhile, Kenneth Walker of Kansas City did his best to keep his team competitive with a solid 58 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Broncos made crucial plays that ultimately swayed the game in their favor. Alex Singleton recorded a team-high seven tackles, anchoring the defense, while Nik Bonitto's 1.5 sacks put significant pressure on Kansas City's offense. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Denver's defense held strong, forcing a turnover on downs and allowing the Broncos to run out the clock and secure the victory.
