The New York Giants kicked off the 2026 season with a thrilling 21-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting year. With both teams looking to establish dominance early, the Giants managed to hold off a late-game push from their rivals, securing a crucial win in front of their home crowd. C.J. Stroud was the standout performer for the Giants, throwing for 263 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to make critical plays under pressure. His connection with the receiving corps was evident, but it was the running game of the Cowboys that made an impact, as Isiah Pacheco racked up 125 rushing yards and Troy Franklin delivered a stellar performance with 143 receiving yards, keeping the Cowboys competitive throughout the contest. Defensively, the Giants relied heavily on Zack Baun, who dominated with three sacks, disrupting the Cowboys' offensive rhythm. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Baun's pressure forced a critical turnover, allowing the Giants to maintain their slim lead and ultimately secure the victory. Meanwhile, Josiah Trotter of the Cowboys was a tackling machine with ten total tackles, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Giants' defensive efforts.
