In a thrilling season opener, the Pittsburgh Steelers narrowly defeated the Atlanta Falcons with a final score of 28-23. Both teams entered the matchup eager to set the tone for the year, but it was the Steelers who came out on top, showcasing a potent offense and a resilient defense. Steelers quarterback Fernando Mendoza put on a dazzling performance, throwing for 332 yards and four touchdowns, connecting particularly well with Chigoziem Okonkwo, who racked up an impressive 205 receiving yards. On the other side, the Falcons relied heavily on Kenneth Walker, who rushed for 117 yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with Pittsburgh's scoring barrage. Defensively, the Steelers made key plays that shifted the momentum of the game. Trey Amos led the charge with five total tackles and an interception, while Myles Garrett added pressure with a sack that disrupted Atlanta's rhythm. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Amos's interception halted a potential game-tying drive, allowing the Steelers to secure their victory and start the season on a high note.
