In a thrilling Week 1 matchup of the 2027 season, the Denver Broncos narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions with a final score of 49-42. Both teams aimed to kick off their campaigns with a strong performance, but it was the Broncos who emerged victorious in a high-scoring affair. Baker Mayfield was the star of the show for Denver, throwing for a staggering 455 yards and connecting for six touchdown passes, showcasing his aerial prowess and leading the Broncos’ dynamic offense. The Lions’ ground game saw a standout performance from their running back, who rushed for 103 yards, while another receiver racked up 166 yards through the air, providing Detroit with multiple offensive weapons. Defensively, the Broncos were bolstered by Daiyan Henley, who snagged an interception that proved crucial in maintaining their lead. Although the Lions’ defense had a solid performance with seven total tackles from one standout player and a sack, it was Henley's timely play that shifted the momentum and helped Denver secure the victory in this tightly contested season opener.
