In a decisive opening week matchup for the 2026 season, the Washington Commanders topped the Philadelphia Eagles with a final score of 31-16. Both teams were eager to start the season strong, but it was Washington that established dominance early on. Terry Bradshaw led the Commanders' offense with a steady performance, tossing one touchdown pass while Jim Brown contributed significantly on the ground with 67 rushing yards. The standout of the night was Ladd McConkey, who showcased his skills with an impressive 108 receiving yards, making key plays that kept drives alive and put points on the board for Washington. Defensively, Tarheeb Still was a force for the Commanders, racking up seven total tackles to help stifle the Eagles' offensive efforts. The turning point came in the second half when Still's pressure led to a critical stop, allowing Washington to extend their lead and ultimately secure the win. Philadelphia struggled to adjust, with Michael Strahan's lone sack not enough to shift momentum in their favor.
