The Cincinnati Bengals kicked off the 2026 season with a commanding 40-19 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With both teams looking to make a statement early in the year, the Bengals showcased their offensive prowess and set the tone for a promising campaign. Leading the charge for Cincinnati was veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns, effectively picking apart the Buccaneers' secondary. Terrell Davis complemented the aerial attack with a strong ground performance, racking up 95 rushing yards. A.J. Brown was the standout receiver for Tampa Bay, contributing 89 yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Bengals' explosive offense. Defensively, the Bengals disrupted Tampa Bay's rhythm, highlighted by Talanoa Hufanga's interception, which shifted momentum and halted a potential scoring drive. Although Rashan Gary led the Buccaneers with five tackles, Cincinnati's defense consistently pressured the opposing offense, creating critical stops that allowed the Bengals to maintain control of the game. The turning point came in the second quarter when Roethlisberger connected on a long touchdown pass, widening the gap and putting the Buccaneers on their heels for the rest of the contest.
