In a high-scoring showdown, the Detroit Lions topped the New York Jets 65-44 in Week 3 of the 2026 season, solidifying their position early in the campaign. The Lions dominated the contest, showcasing their offensive prowess while the Jets struggled to keep pace in a game that featured significant implications for playoff positioning. Leading the charge for Detroit was quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for an impressive 428 yards and found the end zone seven times. Jahmyr Gibbs added a strong ground game with 134 rushing yards, while the Lions' offense displayed a balanced attack that kept the Jets' defense on its heels. Despite the Jets' Omar Cooper Jr. racking up 284 receiving yards, it wasn’t enough to counter the Lions' offensive explosion. Defensively, the Lions made key plays that shifted momentum in their favor. Derrick Barnes was a standout, snagging two interceptions that thwarted Jets drives and helped maintain the Lions' lead. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Barnes' second interception set up another quick touchdown for Detroit, effectively putting the game out of reach and sealing their victory.
