In a tightly contested season opener, the New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Seattle Seahawks 17-13, kicking off the 2026 campaign on a high note. Both teams fought fiercely, but it was the Patriots who made the crucial plays when it mattered most, securing their first victory of the season. Drake Maye led the Patriots' offense with 149 passing yards, while TreVeyon Henderson was the standout on the ground, racking up an impressive 139 rushing yards. Kyle Williams also contributed significantly, finishing with 82 receiving yards and providing a reliable target for Maye. Despite the Seahawks' efforts, Sam Darnold's lone touchdown pass wasn’t enough to match the Patriots' offensive output. Defensively, DeMarcus Lawrence of the Seahawks was a force, leading the team with four total tackles and two sacks, putting pressure on Maye throughout the game. However, the turning point came in the second half when the Patriots' defense tightened up, allowing them to hold off a late Seahawks drive, ultimately preserving their slim lead and securing the victory.
