In a thrilling Week 5 matchup, the Jacksonville Jaguars narrowly defeated the Cincinnati Bengals with a final score of 38-36. This contest was pivotal for both teams as they sought to establish momentum in the early part of the 2027 season. Trevor Lawrence was the standout performer for Jacksonville, throwing for an impressive 433 yards and five touchdowns, showcasing his elite playmaking ability. His connection with receivers was instrumental in keeping the Bengals' defense on its heels, while Cincinnati's Chase Brown managed just 40 rushing yards as the Jaguars maintained a strong aerial attack. Devontez Walker led the Bengals in receiving with 138 yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Jaguars made crucial plays to seal the victory, particularly Jarrian Jones, who recorded two interceptions that shifted the momentum in Jacksonville's favor. Despite Dexter Lawrence II's single sack for the Bengals, it was Antonio Johnson's four total tackles that highlighted a solid defensive effort for the Jaguars. The turning point came when Jones intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter, setting up the game-winning drive that sealed the Jaguars' hard-fought win.
