In a decisive opening matchup for the 2027 season, the Houston Texans topped the Miami Dolphins 31-14. With both teams eager to set the tone for the new year, the Texans quickly established their dominance, showcasing their offensive firepower and solid defense. C.J. Stroud led the Texans' offense with an impressive performance, throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns, while Terry McLaurin was a standout receiver, racking up 155 yards. On the ground, the Dolphins' Breece Hall provided some spark with 88 rushing yards, but it was the Texans' aerial attack that stole the show. Defensively, the Texans were relentless, with Calen Bullock leading the charge with five total tackles. Jamal Hill added a key sack, while Azeez Al-Shaair intercepted a pass, halting any momentum the Dolphins hoped to build. The turning point came in the second quarter when Al-Shaair's interception shifted the momentum firmly in favor of Houston, allowing them to pull away for the win.
