The Dallas Cowboys kicked off the 2027 season with a commanding 31-8 victory over the Washington Commanders, showcasing their dominance right out of the gate. With playoff aspirations high, this win sets a strong tone for the Cowboys as they look to contend in a tough NFC East. Quarterback Nick Gordon was the star of the show for Dallas, throwing four touchdown passes while directing a potent offense. Trevor Etienne contributed with a solid 81 rushing yards, providing balance to the attack. The Commanders' J.J. McCarthy had a respectable outing with 298 passing yards, but it was not enough to keep pace with the Cowboys' explosive scoring. Defensively, the Cowboys were relentless, with Nik Bonitto leading the charge with three sacks, disrupting the Commanders' offensive rhythm throughout the game. Malaki Starks added a key interception that halted a potential scoring drive, while Devin Lloyd's six total tackles underscored the unit's tenacity. The turning point came early in the second half when Gordon threw his third touchdown pass, extending the lead and effectively putting the game out of reach for Washington.
