In a tightly contested season opener, the Buffalo Bills narrowly defeated the Houston Texans 17-14, setting the tone for an exciting 2026 campaign. Both teams fought hard, but the Bills managed to hold off a late push from the Texans to secure the win. Buffalo's offense was led by quarterback Josh Allen, who threw for 181 yards and played a pivotal role in their scoring efforts. Running back James Cook III also made a significant impact, racking up 89 rushing yards, which helped establish the Bills' ground game and control the clock. Meanwhile, the Texans found some success through the air with their quarterback connecting for one passing touchdown, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bills' balanced attack. Defensively, the Bills showcased their prowess with Terrel Bernard's standout performance, grabbing two crucial interceptions that shifted momentum in Buffalo's favor. The Texans' defense, while strong, could not match the Bills' ability to make game-changing plays when it mattered most. The turning point came when Bernard's second interception halted a promising Texans drive, allowing Buffalo to maintain their slim lead and ultimately secure the victory.
