In a thrilling Week 18 showdown, the Arizona Cardinals secured a 24-16 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, clinching a crucial win to bolster their playoff positioning. With the stakes high, both teams fought fiercely, but it was the Cardinals who emerged victorious in front of their home crowd. Leading the offensive charge for Arizona was quarterback Marcus Mariota, who threw for 252 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to manage the game effectively. Meanwhile, San Francisco's James Cook III led the rushing attack with 78 yards, and Makai Lemon made a significant impact in the passing game, racking up 111 receiving yards. Despite the strong individual performances, the 49ers fell short in the end. Defensively, the Cardinals made their presence felt, with Arvell Reese recording eight total tackles, while Nick Herbig added two sacks to disrupt the 49ers’ offensive rhythm. The game’s turning point came in the fourth quarter when Jessie Bates III intercepted a pass, halting a potential scoring drive and allowing Arizona to maintain control. This defensive stand proved critical in sealing the victory and securing the Cardinals' spot in the postseason.
