In a decisive Week 17 matchup, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Philadelphia Eagles 39-3, solidifying their playoff position as the regular season draws to a close. With the stakes high, the 49ers showcased their dominance, leaving the Eagles struggling to find their footing on both sides of the ball. Sam Darnold led the charge for San Francisco, throwing for 280 yards and two touchdowns, effectively orchestrating the offense throughout the game. Meanwhile, Makai Lemon emerged as his favorite target, racking up 112 receiving yards, while James Cook III contributed significantly on the ground with 81 rushing yards. The 49ers' ability to move the chains consistently kept the Eagles' defense on its heels. Defensively, San Francisco's performance was equally impressive, highlighted by Josh Hines-Allen's two sacks and Jack Campbell's interception, which stifled any momentum the Eagles hoped to build. The turning point came early in the second quarter when Campbell's interception led to a quick touchdown, extending the lead to 24-3 and effectively putting the game out of reach for Philadelphia. With this victory, the 49ers not only secured the win but also sent a clear message to their postseason rivals.
