In a commanding Week 1 matchup, the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Houston Texans 38-20, showcasing their offensive prowess right out of the gate. With both teams eager to make an impression for the 2027 season, the Jaguars set the tone early and maintained control throughout the game. Dak Prescott was the standout performer, throwing for an impressive 330 yards and five touchdowns, effectively picking apart the Texans' secondary. He connected with Jaylen Waddle for a staggering 184 receiving yards, while Bucky Irving added a solid ground game with 89 rushing yards, contributing to the Jaguars' balanced offensive attack. Defensively, the Jaguars were spearheaded by Laiatu Latu, who recorded two sacks, pressuring the Texans' quarterback and disrupting their rhythm. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Latu's second sack resulted in a critical fumble, allowing the Jaguars to capitalize and extend their lead before halftime. Despite Zyon McCollum’s nine tackles for the Texans, the defensive effort could not match the relentless pace set by Jacksonville.
