In a thrilling season opener, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Carolina Panthers 30-27, kicking off the 2027 season with a hard-fought victory. Both teams displayed tenacity, but it was the Cowboys who ultimately prevailed, securing a crucial win as they aim for a strong start in the new campaign. Bryce Young had a standout performance for the Panthers, throwing for 311 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to move the ball through the air. Tetairoa McMillan was his favorite target, racking up 132 receiving yards, while Javonte Williams made a significant impact on the ground for the Cowboys, rushing for 105 yards and providing a balanced offensive attack. Defensively, the game turned when DaRon Bland intercepted Young, stifling a potential game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter. Despite Bobby Okereke's solid performance with five tackles for the Panthers and Tershawn Wharton's sack, the Cowboys’ defense made the critical plays needed to seal the victory, allowing them to hold off a late surge from Carolina.
