In a tightly contested matchup, the Carolina Panthers topped the Detroit Lions 23-17 in Week 3 of the 2027 season. The victory was crucial for the Panthers as they look to establish momentum early in the year against a formidable opponent. Carolina's offense was led by quarterback Bryce Young, who threw for 257 yards and connected with his teammates to keep the Lions on their toes. Running back Chuba Hubbard added a solid 88 rushing yards, while wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan made significant contributions with 77 receiving yards. Jared Goff of the Lions countered with two touchdown passes but ultimately fell short in the comeback effort. Defensively, the Panthers set the tone with key plays, highlighted by Devin Lloyd's 1.5 sacks and Jaycee Horn's critical interception. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Horn's pick halted a Lions drive, allowing Carolina to maintain their lead and secure the win. Jack Campbell led Detroit’s defense with seven total tackles, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide in their favor.
