In a decisive victory, the Washington Commanders defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to establish momentum, but the Commanders dominated from the outset, securing a crucial win that boosts their playoff aspirations. Jayden Daniels was the standout performer for Washington, throwing for three touchdowns and leading the offense with precision. He connected effectively with Terry McLaurin, who racked up 87 receiving yards, while Jacory Croskey-Merritt added a solid ground game with 73 rushing yards. The Commanders' offensive balance proved too much for the 49ers to handle. On the defensive side, Mike Sainristil played a pivotal role for Washington, recording 11 total tackles to stifle San Francisco's attempts to find rhythm. The game's turning point came in the second quarter when the Commanders' defense forced a critical turnover, allowing them to extend their lead and ultimately control the tempo of the game. Despite Osa Odighizuwa's notable 1.5 sacks for the 49ers, it wasn't enough to shift the momentum back in their favor.
