In a thrilling season opener, the Minnesota Vikings narrowly defeated the Green Bay Packers 40-37, kicking off the 2026 season with a bang. Both teams came into the game looking to set the tone early, but it was the Vikings who emerged victorious in this high-stakes matchup. Kyler Murray was the star of the show, racking up an impressive 403 passing yards and throwing for two touchdowns, showcasing his elite playmaking ability. Aaron Jones Sr. contributed a solid ground game with 67 rushing yards, while Tucker Kraft of the Packers led all receivers with 108 yards, keeping Green Bay in the hunt throughout the contest. Defensively, Edgerrin Cooper stood out for the Packers, tallying eight total tackles, but it was the Vikings' ability to pressure the quarterback that ultimately proved crucial. Lukas Van Ness recorded a sack for Green Bay, but the turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Minnesota's defense forced a critical turnover, allowing them to hold off the Packers and secure the win.
