In a hard-fought battle to kick off the 2027 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the New York Giants 21-13. Both teams were eager to set the tone for the year, but it was the Buccaneers who emerged victorious in this tightly contested matchup. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers' offense with a steady performance, throwing for 113 yards and a touchdown. Ted Hurst III was his primary target, racking up 60 receiving yards, while the ground game was bolstered by key contributions from the Tampa Bay backfield, ensuring they found the end zone enough times to secure the win. Defensively, the Buccaneers made crucial plays that turned the tide in their favor. Calijah Kancey recorded a pivotal sack, while Alex Anzalone's interception showcased the Buccaneers' ability to capitalize on mistakes. Despite De'Von Achane's impressive 133 rushing yards for the Giants, it was the Buccaneers' timely defensive efforts that ultimately sealed their victory.
